Good Rum
Cabarita Spirits donates 1% of all Soltera Rum sales to the planet and its people.
At Cabarita Spirits we are moved by the philosophy of ubuntu, the Nuguni Bantu term meaning 'humanity', commonly known in Zulu as 'I am because we are'. Our core values are curiosity, humanity and authenticity. So it makes sense that our intention should be to balance profit with purpose -- we aspire to use our booze biz as a force for good, not only a great party for a few!
1% of sales -- not profit -- is significant for a small business when every dollar counts. This is our commitment to drive positive change every year, not just when we do well.
Our chosen charities are A Liquid Future and The Pencil Tree. Both are registered charities with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission and are held to the highest standards of accountability and operations.
A Liquid Future uses surfing and surf tourism to foster healthy communities and healthy oceans in Indonesia. It operates predominantly in remote coastal communities including Morotai Island and the Mentawai Islands and has engaged with thousands of students, started a regional surfing association and 12 surf clubs. Cabarita Spirits' founder and distiller is a voluntary Non-executive Director on A Liquid Future's Australian Board.
The Pencil Tree started when a few Australian friends visited India and realised that many kids were going to school without a pencil to write. It provides children in India and Nepal with school supplies and sponsors children from slum communities to receive private school education and leave behind a life of poverty. The Pencil Tree's founder is a resident of Cabarita Beach and is known for his unwavering positivity.
